Con la realizaci\u00f3n de un balance de logros y desaf\u00edos, de 2014 a 2020, para el Noveno Informe Peri\u00f3dico al Comit\u00e9 de la Convenci\u00f3n sobre la Eliminaci\u00f3n de Todas las Formas de Discriminaci\u00f3n contra la Mujer (CEDAW, por sus siglas en ingl\u00e9s), Venezuela se compromete una vez m\u00e1s a generar pol\u00edticas que garanticen los derechos de las mujeres y ni\u00f1as.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Para este fin, la ministra del Poder Popular para la Mujer y la Igualdad de G\u00e9nero (MinMujer)<\/a>, Asia Villegas Poljak<\/strong>, sostuvo una reuni\u00f3n con el agente del Estado ante el Sistema Internacional de Derechos Humanos, Larry Devoe<\/strong>, y la abogada y activista defensora de las mujeres, Rebeca Madriz<\/strong>, en aras de dise\u00f1ar una ruta de trabajo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

En su articulado, el instrumento global contempla la obligaci\u00f3n de los Estados Partes en presentar al Comit\u00e9 informes peri\u00f3dicos relativos a la aplicaci\u00f3n de los derechos amparados por la Convenci\u00f3n. Fue suscrito por Venezuela el 17 de julio de 1980, ratificado el 02 de mayo de 1983, rese\u00f1a una nota de prensa de MinMujer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

El primer informe se defendi\u00f3 ante el Comit\u00e9 en mayo de 1986; el segundo, en enero de 1992; el tercero, en enero de 1997; el 4\u00ba, 5\u00ba y 6\u00ba, se defendi\u00f3 ante el Comit\u00e9 en enero de 2006; el 7\u00ba y 8\u00ba informe peri\u00f3dico se present\u00f3 en septiembre de 2012 y se defendi\u00f3 el 21 de octubre de 2014, durante el 59\u00b0 per\u00edodo de sesiones del Comit\u00e9 de la CEDAW.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La Convenci\u00f3n establece, no solo una declaraci\u00f3n internacional de derechos para la mujer, sino tambi\u00e9n un programa de acci\u00f3n para que los Estados garanticen el goce de esos derechos. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
