Con concentraciones crecientes del Carvativir, se observ\u00f3 una disminuci\u00f3n en la formaci\u00f3n de placas l\u00edticas. Eso indica una actividad antiviral. Repetimos el ensayo un par de veces, y encontramos el mismo comportamiento\u201d, dijo Rangel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El Carvativir es una experiencia de una l\u00ednea de investigaci\u00f3n venezolana de evaluaci\u00f3n de compuestos naturales y sint\u00e9ticos contra el SARS-CoV-2.<br>&nbsp;<br>\u201cEl origen del Carvativir es el isotimol, como principio activo natural, aislado del or\u00e9gano y el tomillo\u201d, as\u00ed lo ratific\u00f3 la ministra para Ciencia y Tecnolog\u00eda, Gabriela Jim\u00e9nez.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El efecto antiviral del Carvativir se evalu\u00f3 en c\u00e9lulas infectadas para conocer si el mecanismo probable de acci\u00f3n del isotimol sobre el virus se centraba en el receptor, en la prote\u00edna de la espiga, en la proteasa, y afectaba la replicaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00bfEl resultado? El Carvativir \u201cbloquea\u201d o \u201cfrena\u201d la infecci\u00f3n viral de una forma dosis-dependiente.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u00bfQu\u00e9 incluy\u00f3 la investigaci\u00f3n venezolana sobre el Carvativir?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Aislamiento e identificaci\u00f3n de principios activos.<\/li><li>Modelaje molecular.<\/li><li>Estudios \u201cin vitro\u201d y ensayos \u201cin vivo\u201d.<\/li><li>Estabilidad qu\u00edmica.<\/li><li>Estudios cl\u00ednicos por 4 meses, en pacientes positivos a COVID-19, con sintomatolog\u00eda comprobada.<\/li><li>Evaluaci\u00f3n estad\u00edstica en EE. UU.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Por su parte, el doctor en Qu\u00edmica con maestr\u00eda en Qu\u00edmica Aplicada de la Universidad de Los Andes (ULA), Alexander Brice\u00f1o, indic\u00f3 que el Departamento de Qu\u00edmica Medicinal del IVIC hizo una serie de ensayos qu\u00edmicos y an\u00e1lisis para evaluar la estabilidad del isotimol, en el Laboratorio de Bioequivalencia y Biodisponibilidad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cValidamos los componentes de la formulaci\u00f3n del Carvativir y las relaciones en la que se hallan, as\u00ed como la estabilidad de las emulsiones desarrolladas a lo largo del estudio. Estas pruebas coincidieron con otras experiencias hechas en otros pa\u00edses\u201d, destac\u00f3 Brice\u00f1o.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Informaci\u00f3n del Carvativir tuvo un trato confidencial y una evaluaci\u00f3n rigurosa<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cLos investigadores no sab\u00edan que era isotimol. Lleg\u00f3 como una muestra problema. Despu\u00e9s, en la cromatograf\u00eda y en el espectro de masa, se confirm\u00f3 la presencia del isotimol\u201d, asegur\u00f3 ministra Gabriela Jim\u00e9nez.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Para el an\u00e1lisis de los ensayos cl\u00ednicos del Carvativir, se utilizaron dos laboratorios privados debido a las las dificultades de acceso a reactivos y a equipos de medici\u00f3n, impuestas por el bloqueo imperial y para tener una tercera opini\u00f3n, de gran prestigio en el extranjero.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La Cl\u00ednica Mayo, de EE.UU., evalu\u00f3 los niveles de citoquina en los plasmas sangu\u00edneos de los pacientes que recibieron el Carvativir y en los que recibieron placebo.<br>&nbsp;<br>Los pacientes tratados con el Carvativir evidenciaron un efecto inmunomodulador, seg\u00fan inform\u00f3 la ministra Jimenez.<br>&nbsp;<br>Luego de la medici\u00f3n del efecto antiviral e inmunomodulador del carvativir, se hizo un seguimiento de la saturaci\u00f3n y de la capacidad respiratoria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Resultados son alentadores<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Estudios precl\u00ednicos y cl\u00ednicos sobre la efectividad del Carvativir sugieren que es un f\u00e1rmaco con \u201cun efecto positivo\u201d que podr\u00eda usarse como tratamiento para la COVID-19.<br>&nbsp;<br>Ya se tienen los art\u00edculos para una revista cient\u00edfica arbitrada y los informes para la Organizaci\u00f3n Mundial de la Salud (OMS).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cEste ejercicio que ha hecho Venezuela m\u00e1s que sumar capacidades, es voluntad.
